Currently at Farmily....
Our weekly classes at three Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows locations offer a diverse curriculum for the children. Our time together is focused on social emotional skills like teamwork, self worth and mindfulness, as we experience the natural cycles of our seasons and what's happening in the garden. We are able to maintain our gardens year-round, due to our ability to utilize enclosed raised garden beds, a greenhouse, and seedling starters with the help of hydroponic gardens.
We are currently building Katie's Garden! Named after Katie Weingartner, a bright, local young girl who tragically passed away crossing a street in Reno in 2017. The garden honors her as well as other youth in our community. Katie's Garden will be an educational site where community members can learn social emotional learning through regenerative agriculture. The garden is FARMily's largest site, utilizing over an acre of growing space. Beyond being an educational site, it will be a production garden where organic, healthy food is grown and distributed in our community! We are so excited to host events here this summer! Sign up for our newsletter to hear about our upcoming events!
