Current projects and activities...
Our bi-weekly seminars offer a diverse curriculum for the children of the local Boys and Girls Club. They are typically geared around the things we experience in the natural cycles of our seasons, and what's happening in the garden. We are able to maintain our gardens year-round, due to our ability to utilize enclosed raised garden beds, a greenhouse, and seedling starters with the help of grow-lights.

Our engaged Garden Committee meets monthly to discuss current projects and future plans, as well as strategies to progress food systems and overall regional gardening programs.

Meet the Team ...Farmily's staff, faculty, and board of directors are comprised of individuals whose unique backgrounds offer a variety of perspectives for the youth and the organization as a whole. These backgrounds range from work with: The Desert Farming Initiative, Urban Roots, and Basin Range Organics. Our staff attends garden educator training programs including the annual Sustainable Food and Farm Conference in Grass Valley, CA; the Nevada Small Farmers Conference; The Nevada School Garden Conference; and Maser Garden Classes through the University of Nevada, Reno Cooperative Extension. Adult volunteers include unpaid volunteers, paid Organic Farmily staff, and paid Boys & Girls Club staff.
